One of the most striking appearances of the Aleph Taw (את) is found in Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 29. This profound insight was shared with me some time ago, though I regret having lost the name of the teacher who presented it so clearly.
Here, at the conclusion of the King’s decree, the book of Deḇarim, Mosheh records a mysterious covenant made by YaHuWaH in the land of Mo’aḇ. Unlike the previous covenants given to Noaḥ, Aḇraham, and Yisra’El at Sinai, this one was different: no blood sacrifice was mentioned to ratify it. And that difference is not incidental; it holds a prophetic key that points us to Messiah Yahusha and what He accomplished at Golgotha, the “place of the skull.”
A Pattern of Covenants and Sacrifice
Throughout Scripture, every major covenant included a blood offering:
Noaḥ offered clean animals after receiving the covenant sign of the rainbow (Berĕshith (Genesis) 9).
(No Easter ham in that offering!)
When Aḇraham asked how he would inherit the land, YaHuWaH instructed him to sacrifice a heifer, a goat, a ram, a turtledove, and a pigeon. Aḇraham cut them in pieces, laid them in order, and then Elohim Himself, not Aḇraham, (Berĕshith (Genesis) 15). This ratification was one-sided; Aḇraham did nothing but obey.
At Sinai, Mosheh and the people of Yisra’El, including sojourners and strangers, also sealed their covenant with burnt sacrifices and the sprinkling of blood.
The Mo’aḇ Covenant – Where’s the Altar?
But at Mo’aḇ, no sacrificial altar is described. Why?
Mosheh gives a crucial hint:
I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone, but with him who stands here with us today before YaHuWaH your Elohim, as well as with him who is not here with us today.” – Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 29:14–15
This covenant, unlike others, points beyond the wilderness, into the future. It is a mystery, a secret belonging to YaHuWaH, and its ratification would come later.
The secret matters belong to YaHuWaH our Elohim, but what is revealed belongs to us and to our children forever, to do all the Words of this Torah.” – Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 29:29
Yahusha: The Mystery Revealed
Where is this altar? Where is the blood sacrifice that ratifies the covenant of Mo’aḇ?
We find the answer in the Passover meal recorded in Marqos (Mark):
And He said to them, ‘This is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many. Truly, I say to you, I shall certainly no more drink of the fruit of the vine till that day when I drink it anew in the reign of Elohim.’” – Marqos (Mark) 14:24–25
Yahusha gave Himself as the covenant offering, the missing altar sacrifice of Mo’aḇ, on the stake the very next day. His words at the Last Supper fulfilled the hidden mystery of Deḇarim 29.
The secret now revealed is this: YaHuWaH Himself, the Strength of the stake, became the blood offering for the Mo’aḇ covenant. Only Elohim could offer the eternal sacrifice for all mankind.
This fulfillment results in a new heart for the believer and true deliverance.
Temple Sacrifices Ceased – Forever
Within forty years of Yahusha’s resurrection, all Temple sacrifices ceased in the land, to this day. The prophets foretold this pivotal event:
Bilʽam (Balaam) in Bemiḏbar (Numbers) 24:17:
“I see Him, but not now; I observe Him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Yaʽaqoḇ, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Yisra’El, and shall smite the corners of Mo’aḇ, and shall destroy all the sons of Sheth.”
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 18:18–19:
“I shall raise up for them a Prophet like you out of the midst of their brothers. And I shall put My Words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be, the man who does not listen to My Words which He speaks in My Name, I require it of him.”
Messiah Foretold in Detail
Micah (Mikah) 5:2 (Messiah’s Birthplace):
“But you, Bĕyth Leḥem Ephrathah, you who are little among the clans of Yahuḏah, out of you shall come forth to Me the One to become Ruler in Yisra’El. And His comings forth are of old, from everlasting.”
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 61:1–2 (His Ministry):
“The Spirit of the Master YaHuWaH is upon Me, because YaHuWaH has anointed Me to bring good news to the meek. He has sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
Dani’El (Daniel) 9:25–26 (Exact Timing of His Coming):
“Know, then, and understand: from the going forth of the command to restore and build Yerushalayim until Messiah the Prince is seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It shall be built again, with streets and a trench, but in times of affliction. “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off and have naught. And the people of a coming prince shall destroy the city and the set-apart place. And the end of it is with a flood. And wastes are decreed, and fighting until the end.”

Aleph Taw in Yeshayahu 53: The Suffering Servant
This chapter reveals 12 prophetic identifiers of Messiah Yahusha, mirroring the 12 tribes and 12 disciples:
Who has believed our report?
He grew up before Him as a tender plant…
Despised and rejected by men…
Surely He has borne our griefs…
Wounded for our transgressions…
YaHuWaH has laid on Him the crookedness of us all…
Led as a lamb to the slaughter…
Cut off from the land of the living…
He made His grave with the wrong…
It pleased YaHuWaH to crush Him…
By His knowledge, My Servant makes many righteous…
He bore the sin of many and made intercession for transgressors.
And right there, the Aleph Taw is present, silently testifying to the identity of the suffering, reigning, and returning Messiah.
The Covenant at Mo’aḇ was unlike the others because it waited for its fulfillment through Yahusha haMashiach. It was a prophetic promise pointing to the ultimate offering, Elohim Himself, who provided the blood needed to ratify a covenant for those standing there, and for those not yet born.
Today, through Yahusha, we can receive a new heart, be restored to covenant obedience, and walk in the revealed Torah of YaHuWaH with joy and purpose. Truly, “the secret things belong to YaHuWaH,” but what has now been revealed belongs to us and our children forever.
