One of the most important and often misunderstood questions among believers today is: Is the Law of Mosheh still valid for us? Many have been taught that the Torah, the Law given to Mosheh at Mount Sinai, is obsolete, fulfilled only in the Messiah, and therefore no longer applicable. Yet, Scripture and the revelation of the true Name of our Messiah, Yahusha, show us a very different picture.
The Veil Over the Mind: Why Many Reject the Torah Today
The apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth:
But their minds were blinded; for until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Torah and the Prophets. It is taken away in Messiah. But even to this day, when Mosheh is read, a veil lies over their heart. Nevertheless, when one turns to Yahusha, the veil is taken away.” – 2 Corinthians 3:14-16 (paraphrased with emphasis on the true Name)
This veil is a spiritual blindness that causes many to misunderstand the Torah as a burden or a system of works that has been replaced by “grace” through the Messiah. Many equate the Torah with legalism or a curse, but that is a lie rooted in misunderstanding and often propagated by religious systems using the false name “Jesus” rather than the true Name Yahusha.
The True Name Reveals the Validity of the Torah
The Name Yahusha is not just a name; it is the Anointing, the power and authority of the Messiah. In Acts, Kefa boldly testified before the Jewish council:
By the Name of Yahusha Messiah of Nazareth, whom you impaled but Elohim raised from the dead, this man stands before you healed. This Name is the stone rejected by you builders but has become the chief Cornerstone. There is no other Name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” – Acts 4:10-12
The Name Yahusha is the foundation, the Chief Cornerstone, upon which the entire Body of Messiah is built. That foundation includes the Torah, given through the prophets, including Mosheh (Deuteronomy 18:15), as the Living Word (John 1:1,14).
The Torah as Living Instruction
The Torah is not merely a set of rules or an outdated code. It is the living, breathing instruction of YaHuWaH, designed to guide us into life and set-apartness. When the veil is lifted by the revelation of the true Name and the Messiah Himself, believers begin to see the Torah not as a burden, but as a source of life, righteousness, and relationship with Elohim.
The early Messianic community, inspired by the Ruach haQodesh, continued to uphold the Torah’s teachings:
It seemed good to the Ruach haQodesh and to us not to lay on you any greater burden than these necessary things: to abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.” – Acts 15:28-29
This shows us that Torah obedience was not discarded but recommended as foundational for new believers.
The Danger of Replacing the Name and Rejecting the Torah
Unfortunately, the enemy has used the false name “Jesus” and its associated paganized religious traditions to veil the truth. Under this name, the Torah is often dismissed, and pagan festivals like Christmas and Easter have replaced the biblical appointed times.
Christianity in general, as well as mainstream Judaism, reject the true Name Yahusha and, therefore, unknowingly reject the true Anointing and the Torah that reveals His ways.
So, Is the Law of Moses Valid Today?
Yes. The Law of Mosheh, the Torah, is eternally valid. It is the foundation upon which the Messiah built His ministry and through which His people walk in set-apartness. The problem is not with the Torah itself, but with the veil of misunderstanding caused by rejecting the true Name and the authority it brings.
When believers embrace the Name Yahusha and walk in His power, the Torah comes alive as a living guide, revealing how to walk in love, justice, mercy, and obedience to Yahuwah.
The question isn’t really whether the Law of Moses is valid today, but whether we have the revelation to see it clearly. The veil is removed when we come to the true Name, and with that comes a fresh understanding that the Torah is not a relic of the past but a vibrant, life-giving foundation for all who follow Yahusha.
May we boldly reject false names and pagan traditions, embrace the true Name, and walk in the fullness of the Torah for the glory of YaHuWaH.
