An open Bible rests on a rustic wooden table in a warmly lit library. Golden light and sparkling particles rise like a glowing swirl from the pages, symbolizing revelation and divine truth. The background is filled with softly blurred bookshelves, and the words “Truth Defined” appear in elegant script at the bottom of the image.

Truth… what is it?

The word truth seems to carry as many meanings as there are people on the planet. Across the ages, through every culture, race, age, and religion, mankind has wrestled with this one universal question. Each person, consciously or not, has formed some idea of what truth means.

Even Pilate once asked Yahusha, “What is truth?” (Yoḥanan 18:38). And though many never voice the question aloud, all people base their beliefs either on a truth they personally perceive or a truth someone else has convinced them is real.

But here’s the problem: no one seems able to define truth absolutely. As soon as a standard is proclaimed, it shifts. Today’s truth becomes tomorrow’s error. Why does it change? Because one person’s reality is often another’s misconception.

Yet truth cannot change. If it does, it was never truth to begin with.

Truth that changes is not trustworthy. If truth evolves, then how can one ever be sure that what’s currently believed is finally correct? And if the current belief grew out of a former belief that was once called “truth,” how can one be certain it’s now absolute?

Truth must be unwavering. It must be grounded in a source higher than man’s experience or intellect.

And without further delay…

Truth Is Defined As:

In short…

Hebrew Word Study: אֱמֶת – ’Emet

Transliteration: ’emet

Hebrew Script: אֱמֶת

Strong’s Concordance: H571

Definition: firmness, faithfulness, stability, truth, certainty

Root Word: אָמַן – aman (H539), meaning “to support, confirm, be faithful”

The Hebrew word ’emet (אֱמֶת) is far more than just “truth” as we understand it in the modern Western world. It denotes stability, certainty, and firmness, a foundation that is reliable and immovable.

Interestingly, the word ’emet is spelled with three Hebrew letters: Aleph (א), Mem (מ), Taw (ת), which are the first, middle, and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet. This symbolizes that truth encompasses everything from beginning to end, nothing is outside of it, and nothing can be added or taken away without corrupting it.

In contrast to modern relativism, which claims truth shifts based on culture or feelings, ’emet shows us that truth is rooted in the eternal nature and Word of YaHuWaH. It is consistent. It is faithful. It does not evolve. It is.

Yahusha, who is the Word made flesh, said of Himself, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.” (Yoḥanan 14:6). He is the living embodiment of ’emet, the eternal Truth of YaHuWaH.

Note:

Any attempt to define truth outside the standard set forth by YaHuWaH Elohim is a treasonous endeavor, an act of rebellion that seeks to usurp the authority of the Creator with mere human interpretations. These “ideas” may appear sound but are only relative and powerless to uphold life, justice, or righteousness.
