Leaving the Altars of the Nations

Before Ephrayim can walk fully in covenant restoration, he must leave behind the altars of the nations. These are the places where compromise was disguised as worship, where the Name of YaHuWaH was replaced, and where the commandments of Elohim were exchanged for the traditions of men.

YaHuWaH spoke clearly to His people through Mosheh:

The Hebrew word for altar is מִזְבֵּחַ (mizbeach), derived from the root זָבַח (zavach), meaning to sacrifice. In the Torah, altars were never neutral; they either honored YaHuWaH or defiled His Name. The same truth stands today. The “altars” Ephrayim must tear down are not made of stone, but of belief systems, religious institutions, and inherited traditions that exalt themselves above the Word of YaHuWaH.

Ephrayim’s awakening is incomplete if he remains bound to the altars of Babylon, the systems that teach against Torah, that separate faith from obedience, and that claim to serve Elohim while rejecting His instructions. To leave those altars is not rebellion; it is obedience. It is to heed the call of Revelation: “Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues” (Ḥazon (Revelation) 18:4).

The Hebrew concept of coming out – יָצָא (yatsa’) – means to go forth, to depart, to be led out. It implies intentional movement guided by YaHuWaH Himself, much like Yisra’El being led out of Mitsrayim. Just as they left behind the idols and customs of Egypt, so must modern Ephrayim leave the spiritual Egypt of the church system, where truth is mixed with error.

Leaving the altars of the nations requires courage. It means walking away from familiarity, comfort, and sometimes even community. But those who choose to leave find the One waiting in the wilderness, YaHuWaH, their Redeemer. He leads His people there not to punish them, but to purify them. As He said through Hoshea, “Therefore, see, I am alluring her, and shall lead her into the wilderness, and shall speak to her heart” (Hoshea (Hosea) 2:14).

It is in that wilderness place, away from the noise of religion, that Ephrayim learns again what true worship means. There, stripped of all idolatry, his heart becomes the only altar that matters, and upon it he offers what YaHuWaH desires most: obedience, gratitude, and love.

Selah:
What altars still remain in your life, beliefs, habits, or traditions that stand between you and full obedience to YaHuWaH? Ask Him to reveal and remove them, to cleanse your heart from every mixture, and to make your worship pure. You are not being called to destruction, but to restoration. You are Ephrayim rising.
