The Call to Come Out from Among Her

There comes a moment in every awakening when the voice of YaHuWaH does not merely stir the heart but commands the feet to move. Once Ephrayim awakens to his true identity, the next call is separation, a decisive turning away from the mixture and confusion of Babylon.

“Come out from among them, and be separate, says YaHuWaH, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you” (2 Qorintiyim (Corinthians) 6:17). These words echo the very heart of Torah, he call to be qadosh (set-apart). The Hebrew root of qadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) means “to be consecrated, distinct, removed from common use.” According to Brown-Driver-Briggs and Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon, it speaks of something or someone withdrawn from the profane for the purpose of divine use.

Ephrayim’s return to YaHuWaH begins with this holy separation. It is not isolation, but purification. It is not self-righteousness, but repentance. In Hebrew, the word for repentance – תְּשׁוּבָה (teshuvah) – means to return, to turn back, to restore to an original state. This return is not simply moral reform; it is a complete reorientation of life and loyalty, away from man-made systems, back to covenant truth.

YaHuWaH is calling His people out of religious confusion, not because He despises those within, but because He desires His children to worship Him in spirit and in truth. The prophet Ḥazon (Revelation) echoes this same voice: “Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues” (Ḥazon (Revelation) 18:4). To remain in Babylon is to remain bound to her idols and her defilement. To come out is to step back into the covering of YaHuWaH’s Torah, which is life, protection, and truth.

In every generation, YaHuWaH has separated His people from what defiles. He called Avram out of Ur. He called Mosheh out of Mitsrayim’s palace. He called Yisra’El out from among the nations. And now He is calling Ephrayim out of the religious harlotries of the world, the mixtures of truth and falsehood that have corrupted His Name and His Word.

This call to “come out” is both external and internal. It begins with leaving false systems, but it continues with purifying the heart from every trace of Babylon’s mindset. Babylon is not only a place; it is a way of thinking, a reliance on man’s wisdom, traditions, and authority instead of YaHuWaH’s.

The Hebrew word babel (בָּבֶל), from which “Babylon” comes, literally means confusion or mixture. Klein’s Etymological Dictionary of the Hebrew Language traces it to the root balal (בָּלַל), meaning to mix, to confound, to blend things that should remain distinct. Thus, to “come out of Babylon” is to reject mixture, to refuse to blend the clean with the unclean, truth with error, Torah with tradition.

YaHuWaH is calling Ephrayim to clarity, to a walk that is pure, undefiled, and rooted in His Word alone. The separation He requires is not meant to isolate us but to restore us, to make His people again a qadosh nation and a set-apart treasure among all peoples.

Selah:
Ask yourself today: What does it mean for me to come out of Babylon, not just in word, but in action and in mindset? What practices, doctrines, or habits have blended the purity of Torah with the confusion of religion? As you seek Him in prayer, let His Ruach expose every mixture within, and may your heart echo the cry of obedience: “Here I am, YaHuWaH, I will come out and be separate.”
