Forbidden Practices Of The Occult

Deuteronomy 18:9–14 outlines Yahweh’s unequivocal prohibition against occult practices, declared as ἡ τοῖα תּוֹעֵבָה (toʾêbah), an abomination. The Hebrew root תעלב (taʿab) underscores moral disgust. This term, toʾêbah (Strong’s H8441), denotes “something disgusting, an abhorrence, especially idolatry.”

Why These Are Forbidden Toʾêbah

YaHuWaH calls these practices toʾêbah, a term usually reserved for idolatry and sexual perversion. These occult acts are not innocent curiosities but detestable rebellion that leads away from Torah.

Further Biblical Warnings

Eph’siyim (Ephesians) 5:10–11 “Proving what is well-pleasing to the Master. And have no fellowship with the fruitless works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

Qorintiyim Bet (2 Corinthians) 6:14–18 “Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness? …Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says YaHuWaH, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you.”

Debarim (Deuteronomy) 13:1–5 False prophets, even with signs and wonders, must be rejected if they entice people to serve other mighty ones. This is a test of allegiance to יהוה.

    A Call to Covenant Awareness

    Hoshea (Hosea) 4:6 warns:

Rejecting occultism is a covenant requirement. It includes entertainment, music, and even popular literature that celebrates these forbidden practices.

    Ma’asei (Acts) 19:18–20 records:

“You shall not learn to do the abominations of the nations!”
We are to reject the customs of other nations, not study or integrate them into our walk. Torah alone is our source of truth.

When we walk in YaHuWaH’s truth, avoiding what He calls abominable, we walk in blessing, clarity, and set-apartness.

Let the words of Deuteronomy 18 pierce your heart: be perfect with YaHuWaH your Elohim, and reject every counterfeit.
